There comes a time in every mom’s life when she realizes that her baby isn’t a baby anymore.  That the dangers of this culture are real.  That innocence is a fragile thing, easily lost.  That there are some things you can’t unsee or unknow.

It hurts because you want them to be ignorant of ugliness forever, even if that isn’t truly feasible.  You want the dragons to stay small and manageable.  You want the questions to stay simple and unchallenging.

Unfortunately, that’s not the way life operates.  It is, however, the reason why it’s essential for moms to stay on their knees for their babies every day.  How people do this mothering thing without God is a complete mystery to me.  I know for  a fact that I’m not cool enough to do this on my own.
